Good bye Grandpa

My Grandpa passed away yesterday.
He was 87.
It wasn't that big of a surprise, Grandpa had not been doing well for a while. He had been living in a care center for the last couple of months.

Here is Grandpa's WWII picture.

I remember lots of things about my grandpa, but what I remember most is how he loved to talk about hunting.
Grandpa loved to hunt deer and was full of stories.

Here is my Grandpa as a child
notice his curly hair, Grandpa loved that Ollie had curly hair too.

Here is Grandpa walking my mom down the isle.

Grandma and Grandpa with my mom and dad.

Grandma and grandpa where there for my wedding day too.

Last summer, my kids and I were out at my grandparents farm, my grandpa looked at Tatum and told me she looked just like me at her age. (she's four)
He told me he remembered the day my dad took me out to the field where me grandpa was farming. We stopped to say hi. I was sitting on the tractor with grandpa and it was time to go back to the house to eat lunch. I didn't want to get off the tractor and I kept jumping up and down saying I wanted to stay with Grandpa Ben. So grandpa took me back to the house on the tractor and he drove real slow. ( That probally would not happen today) Some of my best memories from my childhood were spending time on my grandparents farm.

I love you grandpa!

The rest of our vacation......

Well, I am sorry that it is taking me so long to get everything caught up......we have been pretty busy!
The last couple of days of our vacation, we stayed at Josh parents house and visited family and friends.
It was a lot of fun.
These next few pictures I took of the kids at my Mom's house.

Here is my Mom feeding her dog, and Tatum acting like a dog!

Tatum petting the dog.

Petey watching Scooby Doo. There was a marathon on so the kids watched much of the day.

Ollie watching The Great Train Story and playing with John Deere.

Here we are at Nanny's and Ollie is sleeping on the couch. I just thought he looked cute!

Here is Josh's friend Mark, I think you have seen him before.

and Mark's offspring.....

Two of Josh's friends came up with their children so we had two more boys and two more girls in the mix........that's right eight kids at Nanny's house!!!

playing with Transformers
.
digging toys out!

We went to my Grandparents farm on Sunday to pick blackberries.

Ollie loves this deer, he jumps on it first thing.....every time we go there.

checking out the squirrel feeder with grandpa Troy.

The berry pickers set out on their way......

Tatum had to pick flowers, or weeds as they may be, along the way.

Ollie collecting rock and giving them to my Mom.

beautiful lake on my grandparents farm.

picking berries.

We had to take a bowl away from Tatum because she was eating them all!

Petey found a hawk and a peacock feather.

Tatum showing her flowers to Grandma Lahna.

We had a GREAT time. :)

Friday at the farm

On Friday, (after Thanksgiving) My Mom and I took the kids out to my Grandma and Grandpa's farm. ...no longer working. (however my Mom and Stepdad are going to make it a working cow farm again, but that's a different post.) The kids like to go out here and run around.

Mom and Ollie walking down over the hill. (My Grandparents house in the background.)

Van about to get in trouble. They just tore down an old barn and hadn't got all of it carried away yet. Van kept trying to sneak over there and walk around it. (Ollie too as you can see up ahead.)
I'll post pictures when they get the new one built.

Petey with his football. He was throwing it back and forth with Grandma Darr. Petey couldn't believe that Mom could throw.

After a day of running around the farm, the kids all fell asleep on the way back to Grandma Darr's house. We ate Chinese food and Pizza for dinner because we we're in a tie on what to have.

Just like her Mommy, Tatum eating chicken fried rice and an egg roll.

Petey and Ollie watching Sponge Bob while waiting on the pizza.

Ollie trying to decide if he wants to stay asleep or get up and eat.

We spent Friday night at Grandma Darr's, then on Saturday Josh came back and we drove home to Tipp City. It was a nice Thanksgiving weekend. :)
