getting your education

I just thought I would share with you a couple of places that I have been to in the last couple of weeks for my current class, The classics: Africa to Asia.

First we visited a Hindu Temple

and then this weekend we went to the Yellow Springs Dharma Center where we learned some very basic meditation.

It was very interesting.
In fact, this whole class has been interesting.
I think that I enjoyed learning about ancient Egypt the most.

a little snow day fun!

It was a snow day yesterday and Tatum and I decided to make our Valentines cookies and cupcakes. ( yes, I know, but its better late then never, right??)

our cookies, sorry for the funky color, it is a cell phone picture.

here are our cookies

we had fun, only problem ... I couldn't figure out why the cupcakes didn't seem to be baking ... I had cooked them twice as long ..hummmm....
here I had turned the oven off after I took the cookies out ...silly me!

Shameless

Yep, my husband and I have a new series obsession..... Shameless.

former obsessions have included Rescue Me and Sons of Anarchy.

and I personally have a big obsession with the Tudors, but I have a strange obsession with the whole Tudor dynasty.

Anyway, I love the characters on Shameless, they pull you in and the most annoying thing is  listening to Frank when he goes off on his little mini diatribes.
Does anyone else watch Shameless? Do you like it? What series are you nuts about?

Can't put it down!

Josh bought me Pioneer Woman's book Black Heels to Tractor Wheels for Valentines day!
I LOVE it. I have it all but read.
Every moment I get a break, I sneak in a couple of pages.
Through class and homework, running the kids to school, dinner and dishes and some laundry...I have been reading. A little obsessed.

Has anyone else read this book? Are you obsessed or is that just me?

I am soo disappointed that Ree was in Cincinnati on Friday and Columbus on Saturday and I couldn't make it either time for a book signing. Oh well, maybe there will be another one someday.

Recipe Binder

Its time to play catch up on my weekly challenges. I finally have the recipe binder done!

Above in the picture is the binders I choose for the recipe binder and the home management binder. {see the blue in both matches, plus the blue matches Toni's printouts! lol...}
Alright, here we go.
I stated here, with a big folder with papers hanging out every.
everything, I mean everything loose got shoved in there.

So, I took the binder and placed tab separators inside.
I printed out Toni's sheets to put in the front, side and back of the binder.

doesn't the blue look really good with the binder cover?

Then I separated everything, hole punched it and put the in the binder.

I used five catorgies:

dinners
snacks
dessarts

I didn't want to make it too complicated so anything that I used to make dinner, side dishes and all went into the dinner category. Snacks is where everything else fell like apple sauce, snack mix and dips, ect.
Desserts are self explanatory. Grits and Pioneer Woman got their own category because I have so many of their recipes and felt I would look for them in their own spot.

( this really is the best Lasagna ever!)

Sweet Amy's cupcakes, yummy!

So, there you have it! Home Management binder is coming up next!

All you need is love

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.

There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time - It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.

Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A HAPPY DAY.

Last Saturday, Josh took me to a Columbus Blue Jackets game. It was the first hockey game that I had been to.
I had a blast!

I told Josh there was just one sporting event that I went to that was more exciting then this and that was the Ohio State game we went to!

Good bye Grandpa

My Grandpa passed away yesterday.
He was 87.
It wasn't that big of a surprise, Grandpa had not been doing well for a while. He had been living in a care center for the last couple of months.

Here is Grandpa's WWII picture.

I remember lots of things about my grandpa, but what I remember most is how he loved to talk about hunting.
Grandpa loved to hunt deer and was full of stories.

Here is my Grandpa as a child
notice his curly hair, Grandpa loved that Ollie had curly hair too.

Here is Grandpa walking my mom down the isle.

Grandma and Grandpa with my mom and dad.

Grandma and grandpa where there for my wedding day too.

Last summer, my kids and I were out at my grandparents farm, my grandpa looked at Tatum and told me she looked just like me at her age. (she's four)
He told me he remembered the day my dad took me out to the field where me grandpa was farming. We stopped to say hi. I was sitting on the tractor with grandpa and it was time to go back to the house to eat lunch. I didn't want to get off the tractor and I kept jumping up and down saying I wanted to stay with Grandpa Ben. So grandpa took me back to the house on the tractor and he drove real slow. ( That probally would not happen today) Some of my best memories from my childhood were spending time on my grandparents farm.

I love you grandpa!
